The National Youth Authority (NYA) in partnership with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and with Technical support from the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT has concluded screening of applicants for the the Youth in App Development Module initiated by the NYA to train and equip 300 young people nationwide with employable skills and strategically position them within the ever dynamic ICT enclave.
As anticipated, when the call for applications was made; there were impressive responses from the young people. In all, a total of 1,208 responded ,whiles 614 turned up for the aptitude tests,which were held in four(4) testing centers(Tamale, Kumasi, Takoradi and Accra).
Preliminary results show that many of the young people who took the test exhibited potentials in varied aspects of the ICT value chain; such as the hardware, systems applications and software development.
The four months intensive training is scheduled to start by the end of January 2017 at designated training centers in Tamale,Kumasi and Accra .
This program is aimed at creating the next generation of youthful IT Entrepreneurs in Ghana and attaining the Sustainable Development Goal of achieving higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technology upgrading development-oriented policies that support decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity, innovation and encourage the formalization and growth of micro-small-and medium-sized enterprises.
