NATIONAL YOUTH AUTHORITY STATEMENT AHEAD OF FOUNDERS DAY CELEBRATION,2018

As the 2018/19 academic year begins, management and the entire staff of the National Youth Authority (NYA), wishes to use this occasion to congratulate all fresh students for having passed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and for gaining admission into Senior High Schools.

The Authority has taken note of the government’s resolve to make education accessible to as many young persons as possible hence the introduction of the free Senior High School and the double track intake regime. Whilst wishing all fresh students to senior high and tertiary educational institutions in the country akwaaba, and a successful academic experience that will further educate and transform them to become valuable agents of societal transformation and change.

The Authority wishes to admonish them to be appreciative of these noble gestures and to remain focused on their studies, be committed to the noble ideals of humility, patience, discipline and uprightness and to eschew all manner of negative conduct that will be detrimental to their development and wellbeing.

Management additionally uses this opportunity to wish all young persons of Ghana a happy Founders Day celebration and would like to encourage them to also avoid and shun all unproductive excesses during this period and to rather engage in productive activities that would go to enhance their total wellbeing and growth as well as endeavor to consolidate and promote peaceful initiatives within their respective communities. The youth are encouraged not to relent in the quest to make peacebuilding a cornerstone for sustainable development and to also use the period to learn and know more about our nation’s history, traditions and culture and to exhibit and uphold them at all times.

The Authority lastly entreats the youth to develop selfless and patriotic traits and to cultivate and develop the spirit and habit of volunteering that will go a long way at advancing the socio-economic progress of their communities whilst equipping them to assume the roles of productive and responsible citizens.
