The National Redemption Council Decree (NRCD) 241 of 1974 provides for the establishment of a governing body for the National Youth Authority. The core mandate of the Board is to supervise the management of the authority on matters of policy. The Board is responsible for the efficient functioning and co-ordination activities of youth organizations and for the formulation of policies and programmes in respect of youth activities and also generally for carrying out the object of the authority.
The Board consists of:
Ten members of the public nominated by the Minister for Youth and Sports,
One representative of the Ministry of Education,
One representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports,
One representative of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Community Development,
One representative of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS).
MEETINGS OF THE BOARD
The Board meets at least once in every four months and the meeting is convened by the Chairman in consultation with the National Coordinator.
An extra-ordinary meeting of the Board may be summoned at the request of not less than two-thirds of the trustees at which a business cannot be transacted other than those stated in the agenda for that meeting.
