NYA Joins Nationwide Clean-Up Exercise, Urges Youth to Champion Environmental Sanitation

The National Youth Authority, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Osman Abdulai Ayariga Esq., joined staff and residents to undertake a clean-up exercise in parts of the Okaikoi South Constituency.

The exercise was part of the nationwide clean-up declared by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama following the devastating floods of 29th June, with the NYA's participation forming part of the government's coordinated efforts to restore environmental sanitation, desilt choked drains, and promote a cleaner and healthier environment in the aftermath of the disaster.

Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Ayariga called on young people across the country to actively participate in sanitation activities, stressing that keeping the environment clean cannot be left to government alone. He urged the youth to take advantage of National Sanitation Day, observed every Saturday under the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, by dedicating time to cleaning their own communities. In his view, protecting the environment is in the interest of every Ghanaian and the youth, in particular, have a critical role to play in building cleaner, safer, and more resilient communities.
