NYA CEO Urges Muslim Leaders to Champion Youth Programmes, Fight Drug Abuse

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Mr. Osman Ayariga, has called on Muslim leaders to support the government's efforts by educating young people in Zongo communities on the benefits of its youth-focused policies while cautioning them against the dangers of drug abuse.

He made the appeal during an Islamic Dialogue with the youth held at the National Mosque in Kanda. The event forms part of activities marking this year's National Youth Month celebration.

Speaking at the dialogue, Mr. Ayariga explained that the primary objective of the engagement was to brief Islamic leaders on this year's National Youth Festival and seek their support in creating awareness among young people in Zongo communities about key government initiatives. These include the National Apprenticeship Programme, the Adwumawura Programme, and the One Million Coders Programme.

He encouraged the youth to take full advantage of these opportunities to enhance their skills, improve their livelihoods, and contribute meaningfully to national development. He also urged them to stay away from drug abuse, stressing that making responsible choices today is essential for securing a brighter future.

Mr. Ayariga concluded by appealing to the Islamic leaders to continue praying for the nation's youth and to amplify the message by encouraging young people to embrace the government's opportunities while rejecting the menace of drug abuse
